"Thanks again for the deeply insightful and shackle shaking workshop! I'm enjoying the fresh experience of living and being originating from a different base and grounding" ..Laura
"Really enjoyed Sunday. I felt such a shift afterwards and was able to give voice the next day in an area of my life where I have become a victim of abuse. I have had fleeting experiences with Roy Hart work and Alexander technique but my throat would jam. With you I am able to work through these blocks and come out the other side. What a gift you have!" Shirley.
"Thank you for helping me find my voice. It was a great experience and has made me feel more powerful. I feel that I have a great inner strength that I can draw upon anytime. if there are more workshops happening please keep me posted." Jean
"I wanted to thank you so much for this great experience and your positive energy! The workshop itself was really captivating and the notes you gave us are very interesting and such a good source to carry on practising at home." Cecile
"I am quite amazed by the power of the voice to open up the inner space of the body.......I must say that making the body resonate with the voice is an incredibly direct way to link with it. Using the voice in the way that you do has a wider and deeper effect than other methods I have tried." Veronica (Tai Chi Practitioner)
When working with groups, the sound release excercises used in all the work, take on a different significance as the sounds produced by a number of people are automatically greater in strength and volume than those produced by an individual. This can encourage people in releasing their own voices as they can lose themselves in the group sound. Sometimes, sounds made by others can touch and open sounds which need to be expressed from our own selves. Although I make it clear at the beginning that the work is not about making beautiful sounds but rather about allowing and expressing the sounds which need to be released; as the work progresses, the sounds produced become more harmonious and are often quite beautiful and full of strength and power as we complete the work.
I often introduce other art forms, such as drawing and painting, movement, writing and modelling to help make conscious what is being experienced and expressed but also to help release a wider sense of our own creativity. People often discover new areas of expression within themselves.
We also work with improvisation in sound which further encourages new areas of expression in an atmsphere of support whcih can be hugely liberating as well as fun! If time permits we finish with a song or basic chant so that we can experience the joy of "singing out" together.
In addition, people often ask about voice production techniques during the workshops and I offer advise and guidance in these areas as appropriate.
All workshops include printed handouts with exercises and information which participants can use to keep the work active at home.
